Pros and Cons of Buying New Build Properties

Today, we're diving deep into the advantages and disadvantages of purchasing new build properties. Let's get into it!

Why Are New Build Homes So Popular?

New build homes have become increasingly popular over the years. In many neighborhoods, you might notice new build sites popping up everywhere. But what makes them so appealing, especially for first-time buyers? Let's break it down.

Advantages of Buying a New Build Property

1. Buying Schemes

  • Many schemes are designed to assist first-time buyers in purchasing a new build home.
  • The Deposit Unlock Scheme allows buyers to purchase with as little as a 5% deposit.
  • Developers often offer incentives like free appliances, flooring, kitchen upgrades, or even covering stamp duty.

2. No Chain

  • Since it's a brand-new home, there’s no waiting for someone else to move out.
  • This often leads to quicker turnaround times from purchase to moving in.

3. Move-In Ready

  • New builds are ready for you to unpack and settle in immediately.
  • Developers often let buyers customize kitchens and bathrooms during the purchase process.
  • Modern technology like smart home systems and high EPC ratings are common features.

Disadvantages of Buying a New Build Property

1. Limited Space

  • New build properties often have smaller gardens and less land compared to older homes.
  • This can make them feel less spacious, which might be challenging for families.

2. Delays

  • Construction delays are common, pushing back move-in dates multiple times.
  • If you're renting, this could mean extra costs for temporary accommodation.

3. Snagging Issues

  • Quality issues or "snags" can occur, such as uneven walls or other construction defects.
  • Always conduct a survey before completion and report issues to the developer for resolution.

Conclusion

New build homes offer numerous benefits like convenience, customization, and modern features, but they also come with potential challenges like limited space, delays, and snagging issues. It's essential to weigh these pros and cons carefully before making your decision. If you found this guide helpful, don't forget to like and subscribe!

7Artisans 85mm F1.8 Full-Frame Autofocus Lens Review

The Perfect Lens for Portraits and Everyday Photography

When it comes to photography, the 85mm focal length has long been celebrated as the "golden focal length" for portraits. But beyond portraits, I believe the 85mm lens is also the golden focal length for everyday photography. It captures subjects with enhanced clarity and adds an atmospheric feel to your shots.

Hello, this is TechRideHub Team. Today, I’ll share my experience using the 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 Full-Frame Autofocus Lens, the second autofocus lens from 7Artisans. Let’s dive into its features, performance, and overall value for photographers.

Build Quality and Design

  • Premium metal construction: The lens has a solid, premium feel, weighing 451 grams.
  • Compact design: Despite its robust build, the lens is compact and easy to handle.
  • Compatibility issue: When paired with the Nikon Zf, the lens cannot lay flat, which is a minor inconvenience.

With a minimum focusing distance of 80cm, this lens is also great for capturing still-life shots. I’ve been using it as my go-to lens for over a month now, and it has impressed me with its practicality.

Features and Usability

  • Stepless aperture ring: The manual aperture adjustment is smooth, with slightly tight damping for better precision.
  • Focus mode switch: The lens includes a toggle for switching between autofocus and manual focus modes, which is very convenient.
  • Custom button: The lens features a customizable button, adding to its functionality.

These features make the lens user-friendly and versatile, especially when paired with the Nikon Zf. The addition of a stepless aperture ring complements the retro design of the Zf body beautifully.

Image Quality

The optical performance of the 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 is impressive, particularly for its price point. Here’s a breakdown of its performance under various conditions:

Sharpness and Aberration

  • At F1.8: The center sharpness is excellent, with minimal chromatic aberration, even in high-contrast areas.
  • At F2.8: Center sharpness improves further, with edges showing better clarity.
  • At F4: Both center and edge sharpness are optimal, making it a sweet spot for general use.
  • At F8: The lens delivers the best overall image quality, with superb sharpness across the frame.

It’s worth noting that sharpness begins to decline beyond F11. Therefore, I recommend keeping the aperture within F8 for the best results.

Real-World Performance

In real-world usage, the lens delivers consistently great results. Whether you’re shooting portraits, landscapes, or urban scenes, the 85mm F1.8 performs admirably:

  • Minimal chromatic aberration: Outdoor shots in bright light show hardly any purple fringing.
  • Bokeh quality: The lens produces smooth, creamy bokeh, especially at wider apertures.
  • Night photography: Wide-open at F1.8, the lens creates beautiful light flares and maintains impressive sharpness.

Autofocus Performance

The autofocus is fast, accurate, and reliable. It works seamlessly for both photography and video, making this lens an excellent choice for hybrid shooters. So far, I haven’t experienced any focus hunting or inconsistencies during use.

Is the 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 Worth It?

If you’re considering this lens, I would say go for it! It offers exceptional value for its price and is a great addition to any Nikon full-frame camera kit. Whether you’re a portrait photographer or someone who loves experimenting with bokeh-rich compositions, this lens won’t disappoint.

Key Takeaways

  • High-quality construction and thoughtful design.
  • Impressive image sharpness and bokeh quality.
  • Excellent autofocus performance for both photos and videos.

For its price, the 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 stands out as a versatile and reliable lens. Highly recommended!

Experience with Xiaomi 15 Pro: A Comprehensive Review

I purchased the Xiaomi 15 Pro intending to replace my iPhone 15 Pro Max as my primary smartphone. However, by the third day of use, I almost returned it due to certain interactive experience issues that affected my satisfaction. Despite this, I decided to continue using it, hoping Xiaomi will continue to optimize the device. Today, I’m sharing my four-day in-depth experience, including my reasons for purchase, usage experience, and the aspects I’m satisfied with.

Why I Chose Xiaomi 15 Pro

The primary reason for purchasing the Xiaomi 15 Pro was Xiaomi’s proactive compatibility with the Apple ecosystem. By installing the Xiaomi Interconnect Service app on my iPhone, Mac, and iPad, I can achieve file transfers similar to AirDrop and seamless screen mirroring. The screen mirroring is smooth, and I can adjust the window size, unlike the fixed mirroring on iPhone. Additionally, audio plays through the Mac’s speakers, and text copied on the computer can be directly pasted on the phone, which is very user-friendly.

Key Features of Xiaomi 15 Pro

  • Seamless Apple Ecosystem Integration: Allows easy file transfer and screen mirroring between Xiaomi 15 Pro and Apple devices.
  • Enhanced Screen Mirroring: Adjustable window size and smooth performance compared to native iPhone mirroring.
  • Efficient File Transfer: Drag and drop files directly to the mirrored screen for quick transfer.
  • Improved User Experience: Friendly interface with direct paste functionality and audio playback through Mac speakers.

Pros of Xiaomi 15 Pro

  • Excellent Integration with Apple Devices: The Xiaomi Interconnect Service provides a seamless experience with Apple products.
  • High-Quality Camera: Leica’s classic image quality delivers impressive photos with a professional feel.
  • Premium Build and Design: The Rock Gray color complements devices like the MacBook Pro, offering a sleek and minimalistic look.
  • Performance and Battery Life: As a flagship device, it offers robust performance and reliable battery life, lasting from morning until evening with a full charge.
  • User-Friendly Features: Features like ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and aesthetically pleasing screen notifications enhance usability.

Cons of Xiaomi 15 Pro

  • Interactive Experience Issues: Certain interaction aspects negatively impacted my usage experience.
  • Portrait Mode Flaws: Inconsistent background blur between preview and final photo creates a disconnect.
  • Random Noise Bugs: Occasional random noise issues with both the main and telephoto lenses are frustrating.
  • Filter Preview Limitations: Small filter preview boxes and lack of visible filter names hinder usability.
  • Advertisement Handling: Difficulty in completely disabling ads, requiring excessive time to manage.
  • Wallpaper Limitations: Lack of support for blur effects in desktop wallpapers forces manual editing.

Detailed Usage Experience

Camera Performance

The Xiaomi 15 Pro delivers impressive photo quality, especially with Leica’s renowned image processing. However, the portrait mode has significant issues:

  • Inconsistent Background Blur: Heavy blur in preview but light blur in final photos causes a disjointed experience.
  • Poor Edge Detection: Foreground blur is rigid and lacks fine detail handling, making it difficult to judge the blur effect before taking the photo.
  • Random Noise Issues: Both the main and 5x telephoto lenses occasionally produce random noise, which is unpredictable and frustrating.

I hope Xiaomi’s engineers address these interaction and processing issues to enhance the overall camera experience.

System Experience

  • Video Playback: After exiting a video, the sound continues for about half a second before fading out, which feels abrupt.
  • Ad Management: Disabling ads took around 20 minutes, and a one-click option to completely disable ads would be preferable.
  • Wallpaper Customization: The inability to apply blur effects to desktop wallpapers is disappointing, requiring manual editing.

Design and Build Quality

The Xiaomi 15 Pro features a sleek design with a weight of 213g. The frame transitions smoothly to the back, providing a comfortable and rounded feel despite its weight. The narrow screen bezels and concealed top speakers enhance the visual appeal, while the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and attractive screen notifications add to the premium feel.

Performance and Battery Life

As a flagship device, the Xiaomi 15 Pro offers excellent performance with no hardware shortcomings. The battery life is reliable, easily lasting from a full charge in the morning until the next evening. The overall performance is solid, making it a dependable choice for daily use.

Overall Satisfaction

Despite the initial interactive experience issues, I am satisfied with the Xiaomi 15 Pro. The seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, high-quality camera, and premium design make it a strong contender in the flagship smartphone market. I hope Xiaomi continues to optimize the interactive aspects to resolve the current drawbacks.

iPhone 16 Pro Max Review: Features, Pros, and Cons

The iPhone 16 Pro Max brings cutting-edge technology to the table. This article explores its differences from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, focusing on the camera, display, performance, and usability. Let’s break it down to see if this premium smartphone is worth the upgrade.

Key Features of iPhone 16 Pro Max

  • New Camera Control Button: Offers advanced control over tones and settings for enhanced photography.
  • Ultra-Wide Camera Improvements: 48 MP resolution for ultra-clear images.
  • Video Enhancements: Supports 4K 120fps recording with noise reduction capabilities.
  • Spatial Video Features: Optimized for Vision Pro and mixed-reality devices.

Pros of iPhone 16 Pro Max

  • Enhanced Camera Features: The ultra-wide camera delivers sharper images and better low-light performance.
  • Professional Video Recording: Capable of 4K 120fps for cinematic-quality videos.
  • Camera Control Button: Adds convenience for advanced photography and tone adjustments.
  • Noise Reduction in Recordings: Filters out ambient noise efficiently.
  • Durable Design: Premium build quality ensures long-lasting performance.

Cons of iPhone 16 Pro Max

  • High Price: Starting prices exceed many users’ budgets.
  • Minimal Upgrades: Not a significant leap over iPhone 15 Pro Max for casual users.
  • Overheating Issues: The phone heats up quickly during intensive use.
  • Limited Use for Spatial Video: Requires Vision Pro, which is unavailable in many regions.
  • Storage Constraints: Higher storage versions are essential for professionals but come at a premium price.

Camera Comparison: iPhone 16 Pro Max vs iPhone 15 Pro Max

The biggest upgrade lies in the ultra-wide camera, which now features a 48 MP resolution compared to the 12 MP in the previous version. Other features, such as optical zoom, image stabilization, and HDR, remain the same.

Low-Light Photography

The iPhone 16 Pro Max excels in low-light environments, capturing more detail than its predecessor.

Video Recording

With support for 4K 120fps video, the 16 Pro Max targets users who prioritize high-quality videography. However, casual users might not notice significant differences.

Who Should Buy the iPhone 16 Pro Max?

It is ideal for users who need advanced camera capabilities, professional videography options, and cutting-edge technology. However, casual users might find the upgrades unnecessary compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Conclusion

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is a premium device with top-tier features, but its high price and minimal upgrades over the previous model make it suitable primarily for tech enthusiasts and professionals.

Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra Review A Detailed Analysis

Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra Review: A Comprehensive Analysis

Why I Regret Buying the Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra
  • From the moment I started using the Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra, I found myself wishing I had opted for the Samsung S24 Ultra instead.
  • Today, I will walk you through my experiences and explain why I felt disappointed with this device.
  • Design Flaws: Bulkiness and Camera Protrusion

    A Major Design Drawback
  • The first thing you notice is the significant camera protrusion on the back, which makes the phone uneven and unstable on flat surfaces.
  • This large bump makes the device feel bulky, almost like a "brick" in your hand.
  • Impact on Usability
  • Holding the phone becomes awkward as the camera bump forces your fingers into uncomfortable positions, often smudging the camera lens.
  • Camera Stabilization Issues

    Optical Image Stabilization Sound
  • The phone boasts an optical image stabilization system, but the system produces a noticeable noise during video recording, even when the phone is slightly shaken.
  • This noise transfers directly into videos, which is an unexpected and disappointing flaw for a flagship device.
  • Charging Speed and Battery Performance

    90W Charging Claims
  • Despite supporting 90W fast charging, the phone takes nearly the same time to charge as its predecessor, the Mi 11 Ultra, which supports 67W charging (around 40 minutes).
  • Battery Life
  • Battery life is decent, lasting a full day with moderate usage such as social media, messaging, and photography.
  • However, heavy use, especially continuous video recording, depletes the battery by late afternoon.
  • Camera Performance

    Video Recording Capabilities
  • The camera allows for extended video recording: 4K at 30fps for over 2 hours and 4K at 60fps for similar durations.
  • 4K at 120fps, however, is limited to 10 minutes per recording.
  • Focus and Clarity
  • The focus system is exceptional, providing crisp and detailed shots. However, front camera focus lacks the dynamic adjustments of the rear sensors.
  • Real-World Testing

    Stabilization on Rough Terrain
  • While testing video stabilization on uneven roads and during movement, the results were decent but not flawless, with some noticeable vibrations.
  • Zoom and AI Assistance
  • The zoom functionality is supported by AI, which stabilizes the frame and minimizes shake, even at high zoom levels.

My Experience with the Philips 609 BK Headphones

Welcome back! I hope you are doing well. Today, you are watching a post about a headset that you may want to purchase. The product I have in my hands is the Philips 6000 series, specifically the 609 BK. Without further delay, let’s dive into the review of this headset with some good music in the background.

    Design and Build Quality

As you saw in the intro, this product has a sleek design. Now, let's try it on and see how it fits. My head is a bit larger than average, so I want to mention that it might fit differently on other people. The design is simple, and the quality of the materials feels solid. The headset features a foldable design and an adjustable headband that ensures comfort without causing any pain even after long periods of use.

    Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) Feature

This product supports Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). So, what does this feature do? Let's say you are in a noisy environment, like walking through Taksim Square or flying on a plane. With ANC, the surrounding noises don't disappear entirely, but they are reduced to a level where they won't bother you. For example, during a plane flight, you won’t hear the wind noise, and when walking through crowded areas, you won’t be disturbed by people talking. However, the ANC is not perfect and doesn't block all sounds. But it is sufficient to make your experience more enjoyable, especially in noisy environments.

    Unboxing and Accessories

Let’s take a look at what’s inside the box. The packaging is excellent, and I want to thank Philips for their attention to detail. The box includes:

    • A white cleaning cloth
    • A USB-A to USB-C cable
    • A 2.5-meter long audio cable with a jack, in case you want to use it wired.

Philips has really done a great job with the packaging. The headset is securely protected, and everything is neatly arranged.

    Comfort and Durability

I have been using Philips headphones for many years, and I can confidently say that their comfort is remarkable. The ear cups are made from soft materials, ensuring that they don't cause discomfort even after long listening sessions. Even in warm weather, these headphones don't make your ears sweat excessively. I’ve tried many headphones from the Philips TAH series, and they have consistently impressed me with their value for money and features.

    Microphone Quality and Communication Features

This headset also has a special microphone that detects when you're talking. If you're having a conversation, the microphone adjusts to optimize sound for clear communication. The microphone quality is excellent, and it adapts to different environments, ensuring that your voice is heard clearly. I tested the mic both indoors and outdoors to see how well it performs in noisy situations. Check out the post to see how it sounds in different environments!

    Sound Quality and Music Control

The sound quality is exceptional. The bass is strong, and the vocals are clear. You can adjust the sound settings through the Philips app, which offers a personalized equalizer. I recommend switching to the "treble" mode for a better balance between bass and high frequencies. The sound is vibrant, and the music experience is highly enjoyable. Whether you're listening to music or answering calls, the audio quality will impress you.

    Battery Life and Charging

When it comes to battery life, this headset is impressive. A quick 5-minute charge provides up to 3 hours of music playback. If you charge it fully, it will last for up to 70 hours without ANC mode on. If you have ANC enabled, you can still get 45 hours of usage. The charging time is only 2 hours, which is quite fast. It also supports dual-device connectivity, allowing you to connect it to multiple devices at once.

    Pairing and Bluetooth Connectivity

Pairing the Philips 609 BK with your devices is easy. Simply press the ANC and power buttons for 3 seconds until the blue and white lights flash, and then you can connect to your phone or computer via Bluetooth. The headset supports Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring a stable connection. The Philips app also allows you to customize your settings and adjust the sound for different preferences.

    Final Thoughts

This headset is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable, high-quality audio experience. The Philips 609 BK offers solid ANC, impressive sound quality, and excellent comfort. The ability to connect to multiple devices and adjust the settings through the app makes it even more versatile. With a long-lasting battery and fast charging time, it’s an excellent option for both casual listeners and audiophiles alike.

Overall, the Philips 609 BK is a headset that combines great value with top-notch features. If you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable, and high-quality headset, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

M4 Mac Mini Review: A Compact Powerhouse for Professionals and Students

    Introduction

Hello everyone! Recently, a lot of buzz has been generated around the new M4 Mac Mini, particularly due to its price and performance balance. Today, I am here to review this compact powerhouse that has been making waves in tech circles. For this review, I’ll focus on the base model of the M4 Mac Mini, priced at 29,999 TRY for non-students. Students, however, can purchase it at a discounted price of 24,500 TRY, making it an excellent value proposition.

Let’s dive into the details of its design, performance, and features, and explore how it stands out in the crowded tech market.

    Compact Design and Build

The M4 Mac Mini stays true to its name by offering an incredibly compact design. When I unboxed it, I was astonished by how small it is—both in appearance and dimensions. Despite its size, this device is a performance powerhouse. It’s easily one of the smallest yet most capable machines Apple has ever produced.

    • The device requires you to pair it with your own monitor, keyboard, and mouse, giving users flexibility in personalizing their workstation.

    Connectivity and Ports

The M4 Mac Mini offers a wide range of connectivity options:

    • Front Ports: Two USB-C ports.
    • Rear Ports:
      • Three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports.
      • One HDMI port.
      • One Gigabit Ethernet port (with a 10Gbps option available for an additional cost).
      • Power adapter input.

This port configuration ensures compatibility with a variety of devices, from external drives to multiple displays.

    Performance Specifications

The base model of the M4 Mac Mini comes equipped with:

    • 256GB SSD storage
    • 16GB unified memory (RAM)
    • Apple has standardized 16GB RAM for the base variant, a welcome improvement over older models that started with 8GB RAM.
    • Upgrading storage to 512GB costs an additional 9,900 TRY, but Thunderbolt-supported external drives offer a high-speed, cost-effective alternative.

    Setup and Usability

During setup, users are left with approximately 213GB of usable storage after accounting for system files. For professional workloads like video editing or 3D design, the base storage might feel limiting. However, external SSDs can easily address this issue.

    • Users can connect up to three monitors simultaneously via HDMI and USB-C, making it ideal for multitaskers or professionals.

    Performance Benchmarks

    Synthetic Tests

Performance tests on Geekbench 6 and Cinebench R23 yielded impressive results:

    • Geekbench 6:
      • Single-core: 3855
      • Multi-core: 14,477
    • Cinebench R23:
      • Single-core: 2246
      • Multi-core: 13,396
    • The M4 Mac Mini outperformed the M1 Mac Mini with a 59% improvement in single-core and 73% boost in multi-core performance.

    GPU Performance

GPU tests on Geekbench Metal scored 57,815, significantly better than the M1’s 34,416, supporting moderate gaming and creative workloads.

    Real-World Performance

    Video Editing

Adobe Premiere Pro handled 4K projects smoothly, performing comparably to high-end custom PCs.

    • A 7-minute 4K video exported in approximately 4 minutes.

    Graphic Design

Photoshop efficiently processed high-resolution RAW images, perfect for designers and photographers.

    Architecture and 3D Modeling

The M4 Mac Mini handled AutoCAD projects seamlessly but isn’t compatible with 3DS Max, which requires Windows.

    Gaming Performance

The M4 Mac Mini can handle gaming but is not designed for it:

    • Lies of P: 60–100 FPS at 1080p on medium-high settings.
    • Death Stranding: 60–70 FPS at 1080p.
    • macOS's limited gaming library makes gaming a secondary feature.

    Verdict: A High-Value Powerhouse

The M4 Mac Mini offers unmatched performance-to-price ratio within the Apple ecosystem:

    • Exceptional CPU and GPU performance.
    • Compact and silent design.
    • Competitive pricing starting at 29,999 TRY.
    • Ideal for creative tasks like video editing, graphic design, and office productivity but not for heavy gamers or 3D professionals reliant on Windows software.

If you’re seeking a small yet powerful desktop computer, the M4 Mac Mini is a highly recommended choice.

My Experience with Apple's M1, M1 Max, and M4 Pro Chips

This is my M1 chip MacBook Air.

This is my M1 Max chip Mac Studio.

And this is the latest M4 Pro chip Mac mini, but I didn't buy it.

I imagine many people who purchased the older Mac mini (base model) may start complaining now. It feels like a direct slap in the face!

Apple's New Mac Mini: Why I Didn’t Buy It

If you've been following Apple’s product releases, you’d know that there were rumors earlier this year about an updated Mac mini. By October, it was officially confirmed. So, if you bought the Mac mini recently, you're probably feeling the sting of impulse buying.

However, my Mac Studio (M1 Max version) was purchased only in October, and I paid over 9000 yuan for it. Even though the new Mac mini (M4 Pro version) has now dropped to 9000 yuan after domestic subsidies, I still think that the Mac Studio is more suited to my needs.

Why Mac Studio Works Better for Me

My needs are very specific: I bought my Mac Studio for video editing. Although the Mac mini offers substantial performance upgrades, its memory bandwidth is still below 300GB/s. Mac Studio, on the other hand, starts at 400GB/s, which is critical for GPU resource allocation.

    • 32GB of memory ensures smooth multitasking.
    •
    • The media engine is a significant differentiator: Mac mini only has 1 video encoding engine and 1 ProRes codec engine, while the Mac Studio starts with 2 of each.

For me, the ProRes codec engine is crucial when using Final Cut Pro. When editing and combining media into a compound clip, the content needs to be rendered into ProRes format, which is hardware-accelerated in Mac Studio. This makes a significant difference in rendering speed and workflow efficiency.

Other software like DaVinci Resolve also benefits from this hardware acceleration, which is only available in the Max and higher versions of Mac Studio.

Performance and Hardware: Why Mac Studio is Ideal

When it comes to CPU and GPU performance, Mac Studio is more than sufficient for video production. Upgrading would be unnecessary, and the Mac Studio’s interface advantages are clear.

    • SD card slot is great for video producers who need to quickly plug in camera SD cards.
    •
    • The USB-A ports are very convenient for older devices like USB drives, saving on adapters.

At this price range, the Mac Studio (M1 Max version) offers exceptional value for money. Anything more powerful would be overkill for my needs.

    Real-time Rendering: A Big Difference

When comparing the Mac Studio to my Hackintosh setup (black Apple), the most noticeable difference is in real-time rendering. Here's a quick example from a stream I did:

The Hackintosh stuttered and dropped frames, while the Mac Studio handled the same content smoothly. Even after rendering, the Hackintosh would still lag, while the Mac Studio was flawless. The hardware encoders make a massive difference.

    Advice for Hackintosh Users

If you’re using a Hackintosh, I strongly suggest not upgrading your hardware anymore. With macOS fully optimized for M-series chips, x86 architecture is becoming obsolete. In a few years, Apple will stop maintaining systems for x86-based devices, and it may even lead to negative optimizations for x86 devices.

If you’re into video editing, focus on encoder support. The ProRes codec, for example, is critical for smooth editing and overall workflow.

Should You Buy the Older Mac Studio (M1 Max)?

If you're looking to buy a Mac Studio (M1 Max) second-hand, I recommend purchasing one that comes with a warranty. I personally bought my refurbished Mac Studio from an official Apple reseller, and it came with a one-year warranty.

    • The warranty starts when you activate the device.
    •
    • You can also add AppleCare+ for extra protection, especially for potential hidden issues like problems with the CPU, memory, or hard drive.

Advice on the New Mac Mini

If you’ve never used macOS before, I suggest being cautious about purchasing the new Mac mini. macOS has its own learning curve and software ecosystem, which may require some adjustment. While it’s great for office work (e.g., writing reports, making presentations, and occasional video editing), I personally recommend getting a MacBook Air from the M-series as your first Mac device. The experience is much more complete, especially with the trackpad, which is crucial for fully enjoying macOS.

Why I Prefer the MacBook Air for Daily Use

Since 2021, my main work device has been the M1 MacBook Air. It’s perfect for scripting, communication, and casual video editing when needed. The battery life is excellent, and overall, it’s a very satisfying device to use.

Though Apple may be targeting the Mac mini to attract regular PC users, I still believe the MacBook Air offers a better entry point for new users, particularly with its mobility and complete macOS experience.

    Final Thoughts

To sum up, my personal view is that the Mac Studio (M1 Max version) offers the best performance for my video editing needs, while the MacBook Air is a fantastic all-around device. For those considering a Mac mini, make sure to carefully assess your needs and the learning curve of macOS.
